Optimization of Handover Performance in Mobile WiMax 802.16E

For Broadband wireless communication Wimax is the most promising technology to deliver high data rates over large areas to a large number of users. It allow the users to roam over the network. The Wimax standard specify the handover policy. The handover is initiated and optimized by Mobile Station (MS), the Base Station (BS), or backbone networks. Before actual handover there is a scanning of Neighboring Base Stations (NBS) for selecting potential target base station by MS. The serving base station allotted time interval to MS for scanning each NBS. As more the number of NBSs, more the scanning duration and therefore more the handover latency.
