A Wireless Sensor Network is a kind of ad hoc network that can be used to monitor a variety of environmental characteristics aiming, for instance, military purposes, environmental purposes, etc. A typical application of these networks is to collect and send historical information from all network sensor nodes to the base station. In this paper, the authors propose a new network coding technique and evaluate its performance in terms of time and energy saving. They show that the proposed technique has considerably improvements on sensor networks with small number of nodes.
