Optimizing Energy Consumption of Wireless Sensor Network Based on Hop Distance
In wireless communication, the average received power decreases logarithmically with distance. The main factor responsible for this is path loss, which represents signal attenuation as a positive quantity measured in dB. In this paper, the authors investigate the effects of change in hop distance between the source and destination on various parameters like Energy per bit, BER, PSR, Transmit energy and packet length. Also, an energy metric is also derived which helps to calculate the optimal transmit energy and optimal hop distance. The relation for how to achieve optimal EPSB with the help of this optimal distance is shown via graphs.
