Optimizing the Performance of LAN That Uses CSMA/CD Protocol
Local Area Networks (LAN) depend mainly in its operation on using the Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection protocols (CSMA/CD). In case of existing high loads, LAN suffers from a number of drawbacks as a result of the occurred collisions. Solving such a problem represents one of the major challenges that face researchers. Based on this fact, this paper searches for a methodology to improve the performance of the local area networks that uses slotted persistent CSMA/CD protocol. The basic idea of the proposed improvement approach is based on using two concepts simultaneously; handle the newly arrived packets and intended to manage well the collided stations.
