Using Oracle Essbase Studio, users can easily build a multidimensional model from data sources. The application allows users to add relational database tables, views, and flat files to OBIEE and EPMA dimensions to make their models multidimensional. Essbase Studio uses many wizard-driven interfaces that make it easy to use by end users. To create Essbase Studio, which is a user friendly, high performance application that offers many features, developers had to first create a combination of Essbase Integration Services (EIS) and Essbase Administration Services (EAS). One drawback that users may face while building Essbase Studio is that the default Essbase Studio examples that are included with the Essbase Studio application are limited, pre built and don't support true real world scenarios. To provide real world scenario, this paper presents a completed data warehouse based on the e-commerce store Adventure Works that sells bicycles and bicycle accessories. The paper used this data as it is complete, well-defined, and familiar to most. Also, it contains real-world data warehousing complexities. The user is required to download the Oracle DDL and DAL scripts to create a user/scheme and load the sample data warehouse data on to Oracle RDBMS instance. The user can gain complete understanding of any area of the Essbase Studio by completing the steps outlined in the tutorial and then reviewing each section.
