In this paper, efficient power allocation strategies for multi-hop multi-branch amplify-and-forward networks are developed in generalized fading environments. In particular, the authors consider the following power optimization schemes minimizing of the all transmission powers subject to an outage constraint and minimizing the outage probability subject to constraint on total transmit powers. In this paper, they first derive asymptotically tight approximations for the statistics of the received Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) in the system under study with maximal ratio combining and selection combining receiver.
