Performance Evaluation and Enhancement of Uplink Scheduling Algorithms in Point to Multipoint WiMAX Networks
IEEE 802.16 standard has defined one of the most emerging technologies for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) in metropolitan areas, called WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperateability for Microwave Access). Network simulations are better choice to test the performance of technologies like wireless networks. Scheduling algorithms provide an efficient use of radio resources in WiMAX. Therefore an efficient algorithm should consider WiMAX QoS classes and service requirements to provide high throughput. In this paper, the authors propose the description of scheduling algorithms for WiMAX, the focus will be on the WiMAX real time Polling Service (rtPS) QoS class. They will also evaluate the performance of the schedulers proposed for rtPS QoS class.
