One of the most important issues in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is collecting and processing data perceived from the environment and sending that data to be processed and evaluated. So, routing data towards the destination node is a fundamental task in WSNs. However, due to the resource constraints, different routing protocols have been proposed considering specific application and scenario characteristics. In this paper two protocols AODV and DSDV have been simulated using NS-2 package and compared in terms of packet delivery fraction, end to end delay and throughput in different environment; varying period of pause time and the number of expired nodes.
