In recent years, there has been a phenomenal growth in the commercial deployment of delay-sensitive services, such as voice and video services, over the Internet Protocol. Regardless of the advances that have been witnessed in networking technologies, effectively utilizing the network resources to accommodate such services remains a major and challenging task for network researchers and designers. The service quality can be greatly influenced by the paths through which traffic follows. The goal of this paper is to examine the impact of multipath routing with load balancing techniques on delay-sensitive network services with focus on VoIP telephony as an example.
