In this paper, the authors consider a dual-hop Amplify-and-Forward (AF) relay system, where the Base Station (BS) equipped with multiple antennas communicates with the Mobile Station (MS) via a Relay Station (RS). They derive the exact closed-form outage probability for two cases: interference only at the MS and interference at both the RS and the MS. It is validated that their analyzes agree with the corresponding Monte Carlo simulations. RELAY is useful in future wireless broadband networks and has been incorporated into 4G standards such as LTE-A and 802.16. Especially AF relay, which has received great interests from both academia and industry due to its simplicity and ease of implementation.
