Personalized Mobile Broadband: Grow Revenue With Cisco Policy and Charging Control
The acceleration of mobile broadband adoption and proliferation of smartphones, netbooks, and other mobile Internet devices continues at a torrid pace. By 2014, there will be 5 billion wireless consumer devices generating traffic on the world's mobile networks, according to the Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI) Mobile Data Forecast (www.cisco.com/go/vni). Many participants in the open mobile ecosystem are competing for the resulting value-added services revenue opportunity. Mobile broadband operators have driven customer adoption with flat-rate mobile data plans, but they are now struggling to find new mobile data revenues. Ironically, flat-rate plans are contributing to substitution of operator services by third-party mobile Internet applications, further impacting the operator revenue model.
