The design of CDMA networks (such as HSDPA, UMTS) and in particular the implementation of base stations is a crucial point for operators. For economical reasons, the number of base stations has to be well balanced to answer to traffic and services needs. In UMTS networks, each base station can serve a limited number of mobile nodes. This number is related to the maximum power that a base station can handle (see). The authors will describe this problem for a homogeneous UMTS network. Since the base stations of a real network are not regularly distributed, they will consider a 'Disturbance' of the base stations positions. In this new configuration, the mobiles stay in set positions and the base stations are distributed according to a random location.
