Profile Migration for a System Upgrade to Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 and Citrix XenApp 6

XenApp 6 is the new Citrix flagship for dynamic application provisioning in arbitrary IT networks. It replaces the predecessor versions Presentation Server 4 and XenApp 5 which are currently used in most enterprises. An upgrade to XenApp 6, however, requires the servers in the data center to work with the current Microsoft operating system Windows Server 2008 R2. For administrators, this means having to carry out a system migration from Windows Server 2003 or 2008 to version 2008 R2, which also entails the introduction of 64-bit technology. It is sensible to combine the system upgrade with software updates, for example, an upgrade from Microsoft Office 2003 (or 2007) to Office 2010.
