Project failures are not an accident of nature. They are purely the outcome of a cumulative and compounding set of events that eventually conspired to derail the project. This non-technical document is intended to help managers dissect some of the critical root causes that may lead to eventual failure. Normally, by the time the alarm bells sound, it's difficult to contain, let alone reverse the looming repercussions of a failing project. By this point, a great amount of time, energy and financial resources have been expended. The efforts and costs of the remedial process can easily undermine the project's original ROI goals.
