Executive Summary

IEEE 802.16/WiMAX is the network which is designed with quality of service in mind. In this paper the authors have made an attempt to qualitatively analyze the performance factors at the physical layer of mobile WiMAX for Rayleigh and Rician channels using different modulation techniques. The comparison of quality of service parameters like BER and power spectral density between different channels in WiMAX physical layer is made. Orthogonal frequency division multiple access technique is adapted by WiMAX on its physical layer. Scalable OFDM has been implemented for subcarriers ranging from 256 to 2048 and the performance factors have not changed.
