Executive Summary

This study investigates security and Quality of Service (QoS) issues in cluster-based Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). The QoS definition consists of four attributes, which are spatial resolution, coverage, network lifetime and packet collisions. And, the security scope of the study is limited by message integrity and authentication. The paper presents a novel control strategy to maintain desired QoS and security levels during the entire operation of a cluster-based sensor network. Compared to the previous work, the proposed method provides much better results for three of the four service quality attributes.
