Reduced Complexity Decoding for Bit-Interleaved Coded Multiple Beamforming With Constellation Precoding
Beamforming is employed in a Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) system to achieve spatial multiplexing1 and thereby increase the data rate, or to enhance the performance, when channel state information is available at the transmitter. A set of beamforming vectors is obtained by Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) which is optimal in terms of minimizing the average Bit Error Rate (BER). It is known that an SVD sub-channel with larger singular value provides greater diversity gain. Spatial multiplexing without channel coding results in the loss of the full diversity order. To overcome the diversity order degradation of multiple beamforming, Bit-Interleaved Coded Multiple Beamforming (BICMB) was proposed.
