Reed-Solomon Code Performance for M-Ary Modulation Over AWGN Channel

Executive Summary

The primary objective of this simulation is to find the performance of Reed-Solomon code for M-ary modulation in a communication noisy channel (AWGN). M-ary Frequency Shift Keying (M-FSK) modulation technique is used for simulation and evaluation. MATLAB is selected as the investigating tool. The simulation model provides error detection and correction using Forward Error Correction (FEC). The message is encoded and decoded using error-correcting Reed-Solomon Codes. The results are presented by a plot in between the Bit Error Rate (BER) and signal to noise ratio using Monte Carlo simulation. It is observed that a properly chosen error correction coding scheme can significantly improve the BER performance.
