In this paper, the authors will present new challenges to the large scale cloud computing, namely reliability and security. Recent progress in the research area will be briefly reviewed. It has been proved that it is impossible to satisfy consistency, availability, and partitioned-tolerance simultaneously. Tradeoff becomes crucial among these factors to choose a suitable data access model for a distributed storage system. In this paper, new security issues will be addressed and potential solutions will be discussed.
