For estimating the reliability of the hardware systems, various life time distribution models with parameters specific to Environment, electrical stresses, quality factor etc., are developed and the procedure is well documented. Similarly for reliability estimation of software systems also many statistical models with parameters specific to failure intensity, Environmental parameters, imperfect debugging, test effort etc., are developed and put to use. However a reliability estimation model for an embedded system with both hardware and software playing their significant roles is still maturing.
