In Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN), the malicious user can unfold the patient information such as vital sign and patient ID using security attacks like wormhole and spoofing attacks. Also reliability becomes a difficult task due to the power and mobility issues which may cause frequent changes in network topology. In most of the existing literature works of WBAN, the security and reliability are handled individually. In this paper, the authors propose a combined approach for reliable and secured data transmission in WBAN. The proposed architecture consists of sensor nodes, relay nodes and Body Area Network (BAN) coordinator where the nodes are modeled to have direct and relay mode.
