Requirements Analysis for Identity Management in Ambient Environments: The HYDRA Approach
This research in Ambient Environments is aimed towards creating new paradigm in wireless network space. It also deals with intelligent mobile services. There are expected to be 7 trillion wireless devices serving seven billion people in 2017, as claimed by Wireless World Research Forum. The research looks at the need for new changes in Identity Management segment, since such systems are required to safeguard wireless networks which consist of several nodes of sensors, intelligent devices and mobiles. This paper sheds a light on a new project undertaken by European Union. The project is known as Network Embedded System middleware for heterogeneous physical devices in a distributed architecture or HYDRA. The project is looking to garner support of ambient environment developers for managing identity information and for ensuring interoperability and integration of existing Identity Management system. The paper also endeavors to set a boundary line for middleware level of HYDRA. This has to be done to ensure that the developer works towards the design with the end user in mind. The paper also has shown the function of the Identity Metasystem. It also develops ten key requirements for Identity Management set up in ambient environment. The paper evaluates HYDRA system using 'Intelligent Home' as a scenario.
