This paper introduces the theory of UV communication system. The UV LEDs driven by DC serve as the light source in the transmitter. The receiver containing the filter and photomultiplier tube is designed to realize the photoelectric detection. The design scheme and principles of UV communication system are described in detail. The experiments are carried out under different test conditions. The authors have analyzed the relationship among the communication distance and the bit error rate, as well as the data transmission rate. Furthermore, the results show that the system can meet the needs of short-range wireless UV communication.
