The authors introduce the final version of SecRose, a mechanism for secure transferring of data in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). SecRose is based on improvements in existing proposals plus a set of distinctive novel characteristics. Major Features include encrypted and authenticated communications, integrated key management and categorisation of communication types. SecRose is secure, scalable and extremely lightweight. A typical Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) consists of a number of wirelessly interconnected sensor nodes that are used to gather information from the environment. They might operate in a hostile environment and they should be resistant to physical or electronic attacks.
