Information and communications systems today transmit vital information. The Internet has brought fundamental changes to the world. The information is vulnerable to threats, from unauthorized access and use. There is a tremendous potential for fraud in this electronic world. The ability to make multiple copies and undetectable alterations of digitized data complicates the matter. Cryptography is the fundamental technology used to provide security for computer networks and is implemented in the network. It is applied to ensure authenticity and integrity of documents archived or transmitted electronically. It also offers challenges to the cryptographic research community by raising new questions not addressed in any scenario.
