Wireless sensor networks are comprised of low cost sensor nodes that have the ability to quickly form a mesh network and communicate with each other through digital radios. Recent advances in wireless sensor networks can drastically reduce the cost and physical limitation in wired network. Therefore, wireless sensor networks have been widely used in applications such as process control system, condition monitoring, health and safety monitoring. Because it is difficult to define and control boundaries and interactions between sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks, as wireless sensor networks are integrated into some critical infrastructures to promote connectivity and remote access capabilities, the possibility of cyber security vulnerabilities and incidents increases significantly.
