The increasing popularity of Voice Over IP (VOIP) for businesses inevitably leads to an increased focus on the security of VOIP as a business technology. VOIP is, broadly, subject to the same level of threats as the rest of the corporate network, and so businesses must pay the same level of attention to its security. However, VoIP also brings with it additional concerns such as privacy issues, 'Vishing' attacks and application vulnerabilities which are all factors that businesses must protect against. And there are indications from the US that compliance regulators are starting to take a closer look at VOIP security as part of a businesses' overall data security systems.
