Simulation Based Analysis of Position Based Routing Protocols in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks
The Vehicular Ad Hoc NETwork (VANET) is a promising new paradigm in the domain of wireless communication employed specially for providing road safety, comfort and convenience to the driver as well as passengers while on the way by the integration of various wireless network technologies, cellular technologies like 2G and 3G, sensors, GPS, Bluetooth, etc. Due to higher mobility of nodes (vehicles), routing becomes the most challenging task in VANETs. A lot of research is being done for topology-based routing protocols in inter-vehicular environment but these protocols are not promising in VANETs. In this paper, the authors evaluate the performance of the position-based routing protocols in vehicular network environment.
