A smaller business can't afford the same kind of marketing as the big companies use. The marketing of big companies focuses on 'Brand Building', but this is too diffused and not effective enough for companies with a modest marketing budget. Instead, small business often buys one 'Piece' of marketing at a time, such as a new website, or some ads in a local paper, as this is more affordable. Unfortunately, this too is ineffective for promoting a small business. These are only individual pieces of a larger puzzle.
