In a paper, the authors have investigated and analyzed the basic mathematical model equations of the three fabrication materials based conventional and a thermal arrayed waveguide grating in local area passive optical access networks under the assuming set of the controlling parameters of the ambient temperatures in the range of 300 K-320 K for the three fabrication materials. They have demonstrated that silica-doped material has the highest spectral sensitivity coefficients, and moreover silica-doped has low propagation loss of the light rays, and high reliability than the two fabrication materials such as PMMA and LiNbO3 for conventional and a thermal AWG applications in passive optical access networks.
