Executive Summary

Configuration management makes use of both technical and administrative surveillance to identify and document the functional and physical characteristics of a configuration item. This paper describes the use of Software Version Control and System Configuration methods or Configuration Management Plan (CMP) during the VoteCal project. The Configuration Management Plan is used to maintain the integrity and traceability of work products produced throughout the lifecycle of a project. This requires identification of the configuration of selected work products that compose the baselines at any given time. It is also important to control changes related to the configuration items. The configuration management plan is also required to provide accurate status and current configuration data to project stakeholders. Work products delivered to the customer, which includes project deliverables, designated internal work products, acquired products, tools, and other items used to create and describe these work products ate he work products that are to be placed under configuration management plan. The paper also describes the need and purpose of the VoteCal Configuration Management Plan. As per the information shared in the document, the VoteCal Configuration Management Plan helps to establish and maintain the integrity of work products. This is done by using configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.
