Statistics - Demanding Computing with Hadoop and Map-Reduce

Big data is demarcated as enormous quantity of data which requires new technologies and architectures so that it becomes conceivable to extract value from it by capturing and analysis process. The popular hypothesis around big data analytics is that it requires internet scale scalability: over hundreds of compute nodes with attached storage. Every day, the authors create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data - so much that 90% of the data in the world today has been created in the last two years alone.
