Server virtualization has become a popular methodology to consolidate many smaller systems. However, due to the immaturity of the overall solution, from a system perspective, customers still need to tune their own virtualization infrastructures, taking storage solutions, operating systems (OSs) and hypervisors from specialist suppliers and hardware from other sources.
This research indicates which storage considerations need to be taken into account by an IT manager when starting server virtualization projects or improving the productivity of existing server-virtualized environments. It also highlights what can and cannot be achieved with today's storage technologies and solutions. Produced by Gartner.
