The paper explores factors significant for successful organizational change. It presents empirical findings from a recent amalgamation reform in the Danish public sector and discusses possible lessons for the management of organizational change processes. Antecedent's related to structural factors as well as leadership are analyzed. Both types of factors are found to be important to successful mergers. And in the eyes of the involved managers, leadership factors tend to play the most significant part.
