Successfully managing organizational change can be a difficult task, even for the most adept leaders. Not only can the changes themselves be disruptive, but the manner in which employees react to those changes can make the transitional process even thornier than necessary. Most people tend to have a natural resistance to change and, in many cases, employees will resist change simply because they are comfortable with the status quo. For this reason, it is important for business leaders to follow an established model of change management, such as the eight step model put forth by industry expert John Kotter.
