P2P based file sharing applications have gained immense popularity in recent years. Most content sharing applications search by matching the query with the file name. Some content sharing applications have gone a step further and used metadata assigned to it by the user who shared the content for searching the content. This might not be the best approach as the tags assigned by the user may be biased and inadequate in describing the content. In this paper, an improvised search is proposed in distributed P2P content sharing systems which make use of the external metadata assigned to the content by the public. The search is implemented on JXTA overlay for its interoperability and tested.
