Characterizing the capacity region of wireless networks is a long standing open problem in information theory. The exact capacity region is, in fact, not known for even simple networks like a three node relay channel or a four node interference channel. In this paper, the authors consider the question of approximately determining the capacity region of wireless networks by identifying its scaling in terms of the number of nodes in the network. In the last decade or so, exciting progress has been made towards approximating the capacity region of wireless networks.
