Dating back to Schumpeter's early writings, the idea of entrepreneurial passion has been invoked to explain entrepreneurial behaviors that defy reason such as unconventional risk taking and an unwavering belief in a dream. Venture capitalists, who bet on entrepreneurs with real money, are known to account for passion dividends. Customers, suppliers, and employees seem to be drawn to entrepreneurs with passion. Yet, the idea of entrepreneurial passion remains shrouded in mystery. Little is known about what entrepreneurial passion is, and how it influences an entrepreneur's feeling, thinking, and behavior.
