The Internet has shown how access to global networked systems can revolutionise not only how one can do business but even how one live. In addition, the explosion in mobile telephone use demonstrates the value the authors put on immediate, personal communications. Mobile commerce promises to combine these two phenomena into a whole new paradigm of personal, high value services. There is a clear technical road-map for the development of products to enable mCommerce, but the way forward is less clear in the commercial area. There is no clear business model for mCommerce as it is unlikely that the internet models can be directly applied to the mobile medium.
