Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been reported to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of various sectors and industries. This goes along with the aims of community policing is to enhance efficiency and service delivery in providing security in a society. ICT can also increase the effectiveness of community policing processes. However, the role of ICT, particularly mobile phones, in Tanzanian community policing has not been studied. The aim of the paper was to establish the role of mobile phones and public perceptions in Community Policing activities. A survey of community members using a structured questionnaire was conducted.
