Forrester Consulting conducted a commissioned study on behalf of Microsoft titled, "The Total Economic Impact of Windows Server 2008 R2" that examined the total economic impact and potential return on investment (ROI) enterprises may realize by deploying Windows Server 2008 R2. After conducting interviews with nine Microsoft customers, Forrester Consulting found that these companies were able to achieve: management savings for their IT team; benefits from virtualization such as hardware, real estate, and power cost savings; user productivity savings; and other cost savings through DirectAccess and BranchCache technologies.
