Throughput of Wireless Multi-Mesh Networks: An Experimental Study

IEEE 802.11 standard provides infrastructure-less operating mode called as ad hoc mode. Absence of infrastructure and self-configuration capability makes ad hoc networks suitable for low-cost applications, but results in wireless medium instability and low connectivity. Hence WMN is proposed to increase the ad hoc connectivity because WMN extends the coverage area of communication by using multi-hop communications. WMN is a communication network made up of radio nodes organized in a mesh topology, wherein each node in the network may act as a router, regardless of whether it is connected to another network or not.
