Life long learning is an extremely important part; but as people get older and more involved in work and family, finding time for life long learning gets more difficult. Online learning, in its many modalities has proven to be a good alternative to in class learning. Especially promising is the asynchronous learning environment. Benbunan-Fich and Hiltz (1969) defines an Asynchronous Learning Environment (ALE) as "A computer mediated communication system designed to support 'Anytime/anywhere' interactions among students and between students and instructors." The efficacy of this learning environment has been demonstrated in numerous studies.
