In traditional desktop computing, desktop operating systems and the devices that display them are almost always one and the same. Applications are often written with this assumption in mind, but this can cause problems in virtualized environments where the operating systems execute on servers but are accessed with multiple client devices from many locations. This can lead to confusing situations such as which printer a user should choose, or which workstation a healthcare worker was using when updating a patient's records. Fortunately, Oracle desktop virtualization includes a "Location awareness" feature to solve this problem.
