Multi-touch technology interfaces are becoming ubiquitous since their integration in smart-phones, tablets and many consumer electronics devices. Depending on the size of the tangible interface, the computing resource restrictions and the resolution required, there are different technological alternatives for multi-touch screens such as camera based systems, capacity, resistive or pressure sensing systems or LED based systems. This paper presents a different alternative to deploy medium to large size multi-touch screens with low computational requirements for tracking the user movements based on the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. The paper makes a review of the main related technologies to create medium to large size multi-touch screens identifying their pros and cons and proposes a different design based on NFC tags and mobile readers.
