Using Virtual Credits to Provide Incentives for Vehicle Communication
Participatory sensing has been recently proposed as a replacement for traditional mobile sensing system. In this paper, the authors adopt the concept of participatory sensing for mobile surveillance by involving a human into the loop of data collection. Furthermore, they introduce a virtual credit based mechanism to motivate the participants to collect data and share their bandwidth. They perform an analysis of different parameters which might affect the performance of such a system. Participatory sensing is known to be able to leverage the increasing sensing capabilities found in consumer devices, such as Smartphones or car video cameras. Data collected from these mobile sensors provides the basis for existing human-centered applications.
