Executive Summary

A Wireless Video Sensor Network (WVSN) is a special kind of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) that is capable of capturing video data at video sensor nodes (nodes have the equipment to capture video data), processing the data, and transferring them using a multihop technique to the base station. Two types of nodes are considered in WVSNs, video sensor nodes (source nodes) and processing sensor nodes that affect the retrieval of video data. The main functions of video sensor nodes are to capture objects and to record video data, while the main functions of processing sensor nodes are to gather data and to process them.
