Executive Summary

Because of the rapid growth of multimedia services, very high speed data transmission is required for the future wireless communication systems. For high speed data transmissions, the wireless channel consists of a number of propagation paths and the channel becomes a severe frequency-selective fading channel. Multi-Carrier (MC) system, such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA), is robust against the frequency selective fading. To increase the data rate without signal bandwidth expansion, Multiple-Output (MIMO)- Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) is attractive.
