Among the fallout of the technology boom in litigation is that the marketplace is flooded with products, many of which seem to have similar features or capabilities. Upon closer examination, however, many products which seem to have overlapping features are actually designed for very different purposes. This often leads to firms purchasing products which they plan to use for applications other than their primary intended functionality. Or firms purchase one or more products which they may try to stretch to meet other needs, limiting their technology capabilities unnecessarily.
