Over the past 20 years, we have all seen the proliferation of project managers. Each year, additional project managers are added, and it seems like they are required to drive simpler and smaller tasks through the organization. If you were to ask anyone why the phenomenon of increasing project managers is occurring, very few could explain why. The trend started innocently over time and then exploded to what we have today. At the beginning of this trend, to meet business needs and keep our customers satisfied, we needed to drive big programs, smaller projects, and then individual tasks.
